Their safety is the design brief

Beyond the Closed Doors works with people at risk. Our students are Afghan women and girls studying in circumstances where being identified can carry real consequences. Privacy is therefore not a legal formality for us — it is a safeguarding practice, and it shapes how this platform was designed and how the initiative operates every day.

We collect the minimum information required to run the programs — a student's name, an educational record, and a way to reach her. We deliberately do not collect dates of birth, home addresses, identity documents or photographs as part of student records.

Inside the platform, access is need-to-know and denied by default. Teachers see only the educational identity of students in their own cohorts. Contact details, consent records and administrative notes are restricted to the initiative's administrators and specifically authorized staff. Funding and donor records are kept entirely separate from student records and never reference an individual student.

We never publish a student's name, photograph, story or any identifying detail on this website or anywhere else without two things: her informed consent, and a specific safety review by the initiative's leadership. Both are required, and either can be withdrawn at any time — publication then stops.

Public impact figures are aggregates computed from program records — counts of students, cohorts and placed resources — and can never be traced to an individual. Images in our media gallery have passed the same consent-and-review gate.

There is no self-registration on this platform. Student and staff accounts are created by administrators, one at a time, with temporary credentials handed over personally. This keeps the community closed to strangers and means no one can join, browse or search for our students from the outside.

The public website works without tracking. We do not run advertising, analytics profiles or third-party trackers, and we set no marketing cookies.

If you write to us through the contact, interest or donation forms, we receive exactly what you type: your name, the contact details you choose to share, and your message. We use it only to respond to you and to administer the programs. Form submissions are rate-limited and reviewed by administrators; they are never published or shared.

We never collect card details or banking credentials on this website. Donations are arranged personally, through documented transfers, after we have written to you.

Concerns of this kind go directly to the initiative's leadership, are treated confidentially, and are acted on with priority.
