About the initiative
An independent initiative for education that cannot be closed away
Beyond the Closed Doors exists for one reason: academically motivated Afghan women and girls are excluded from formal education, and their ambition deserves a pathway, not a pause.
Mission
What we set out to do
We identify academically motivated Afghan women and girls, equip them with the technology and connectivity required to learn, prepare them in academic English, support recognized testing, connect them with mentors, and help them compete for university admission and scholarships.
Vision
Where the pathway leads
A generation of Afghan women who studied on despite closed classroom doors — holding recognized qualifications, admitted to universities, and returning their learning to their communities. We measure ourselves not by hours of class delivered, but by doors that open at the end of the pathway.
Why it matters
Ambition without access
Since the exclusion of women and girls from secondary and higher education in Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of capable students have been cut off from formal study. The ambition has not gone anywhere — the access has.
Beyond the Closed Doors is an independent education initiative, unaffiliated with any government or political movement. We work remotely and safeguarding-first: our students study online, their identities are protected, and nothing about an individual student is ever published without her informed consent and a specific safety review.
We concentrate on students who have completed Grade 12 and are ready for the demands of university-level study, because that is where a structured pathway — English proficiency, a recognized examination, mentorship and applications — can change the outcome of a life within a few years.
